Question:
Heavy Duty Computer Chair
My mom is SMO and needs a new computer chair. It needs to be a secretary or task type chair (no arms) with casters or wheels and heavy duty to accomodate a 400+ pound person. In addition to using the chair for computer work, she uses it to scoot around her house ... so it gets a lot of wear and tear. Does anyone know of a source for this type of chair? Reasonably priced would be a plus! — Lynn T. (posted on November 29, 2003)

If you go to http://www.google.com and do a search on heavy duty computer
chair 400 lbs you will find many links for chair that should fit her needs.
Here are a few: <BR><BR>

http://www.everythingofficefurniture.com/bigandtaofch1.html
<BR><BR>
http://www.iesproducts.com/ch-off-bigtall.html lots of chairs on this link

There are many walkers with seats that are made for individuals who are
SMO. Would something like that work for her to get around the house? Many
computer chairs would not easily fit thru the doorways UNLESS they are
wider than normal. Hope you find a chair that works for her.

I bought a really good (and expensive) well-built chair from a typical
office type of store. It had arms on it, but I upended the chair and took
them off. I weighed 448 at the time I bought it. It's still going just
fine.

I got my chair at Office Max. The chair holds up to me and my son who plops
down on it really hard everytime he sits on it. Also at Office Max you can
but a gaurantee that they will replace the chair if it breaks for any
reason for like 3 years.
