Question:
Has anyone considered revision after having open RNY?
I'm about 3 years post op. I've had a baby since the surgery, currently I'm stuck at the weight of 215-219 lbs. Since revision will probably not be covered by insurance I'm willing to self-pay by having a revision by adding a lap band to my RNY in order to increase weight loss along with making my pouch smaller if thats possible. I'm willing to go across the border to Mexico to do this. Has anyone ever had such a revision? I feel desperate. — Raychel B. (posted on November 6, 2003)

Many, many revise from proximal to more distal after a few years. That is
not unusual at all.

Hi there! I don't know about the Mexico option, but I do know there are
many people seeking revisions. I know of one Yahoo group where you might
be able to find some answers: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DS_Revision/ -
they may be able to put you in touch with someone who is considering what
you're thinking of doing. I am a self-pay patient for my WLS, so I
understand the feelings that you're going through - for sure! You'll be in
my thoughts and prayers!

If you go over to the spotlight health board to the lap band support board
there was someone whose hubby was supposed to be banded after RNY maybe
someone there can put you in touch or help you find the post.
Good Luck

You sound just like me right now in my life. I am about the same weight
that you are and just had a baby 7 months ago. And is also 3 years post-op
I have not lost any of my weight since my baby, but in fact have put on
weight. I don't know what to do I was thinking about having that done
myself. I just have to find a doctor that is willing to take medicare.
Anyone knows anybody I live in Louisiana and willing to travel.
