Question:
I am 33 - no HBP/no Hi Cholest. - now EKG says mild aortic valve sclerosis???

I am freaking out..my Echocardiogram came back and when the dr did a preliminary check of results he put NO VALVULAR ABNORMALITIES below other remarks saying I have "Mild Aortic Valve Sclerosis and Mild Left Ventrical Hypertrophy"..Has anyone ever heard of this - I am only 33 - unless its congenital i am too young to have something liek this according to everything i have read...and to never have had symptoms or anything...its really made me VERY nervous...Please let me know if you have ever heard of this.....-Kelly    — Kelly S. Hi Kelly Try not to worry too much about your EKG. I DO have HBP and high cholestrol and I had my EKG come back saying left atrial enlargement and Borderline EKG. But my surgoen was not suprised. I did have chest x-rays done and my heart looked fine. By the way, I am only 28. If you are really worried about it, call your doctor and talk to him. If he isn't too worried, ask him why and hopefully that will help you.

A lot of people may have some mild valve problems and some ventricular hypertrophy. would you know you even had this without the EKG? Unless it is causing symptoms now, it's nothing to worry about. My DH had an echocardiogram and other tests before surgery, as he had a coarctation of the aorta corrected when he was 17 years old. He has a little murmur and his aortic valve is a little floppy, but he has not had any problems (6 month post op now) and they only recommended he have everything checked again in a year.
