Question:
For those who have had a leak, how long was your recovery?
How many days in the hospital? What tests were used to confirm the leak was gone? I had a small leak after my Lap RNY on Oct 1. I was in the hospital for 12 days and went through a series of MRI swallow and Catscan tests to check to see if the leak was gone. The recovery before I could take in food, water or meds by mouth was 3 weeks. Is this normal? — Laurie L. (posted on October 25, 2003)

Hi there. It's been over two years since I really drudged up my thoughts
about my leak...but the time frame seems about right....I didn't get any
food or drink for about two-three weeks. I was fed interveniously(sp)
during that time. I had to take a dye test to determine if the leak was
gone...I think that wicked stuff was one of the worse parts of the whole
ordeal. I don't even remember what it was called. If you go back to Aug, 01
in my profile, I included a lot more detail...maybe more than you wanted to
know...but it's there. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! -Kim open RNY
