Ask your doctor. Tell him of your concerns and ask him for an explanation.

This also happened to me at about 4 months out. Mine had been fine and
than it went to 200. My PCP re-tested and it came back the same. We did a
bunch of other blood work, and then re-tested again in 6 weeks. It came
down to 46 which is still a fatty liver. My doctor was puzzled why this
happened, but relieved it came back down. Maybe our systems are going
through so much change that things get messed up. Good luck.

Check the Library on this. My liver enzymes also shot up after being
normal until I was about 8 months post-op. They've stayed elevated since
then (I'm 16 months out now), but they're slowly dropping to normal.
Neither my bariatric surgeon nor my endocronologist had any idea why, but
having checked the Library, I see that one theory is that the enzymes may
be affected by all the fat processed by our livers as we lose weight. I
don't know if it's true, but I do know mine are dropping steadily and I
expect them to be back to normal before too much longer. I do know I have
no other signs of liver disease, however, so I'm not sweating it anymore
(unless they don't drop back to normal). I've read that taking milk
thistle may help bring them back into the normal range, too.

Since I am still pre-surgery I can't directly answer the question about
liver enzymes post-surgery. I was on some anti-fungal medications earlier
in the year (Diflucan and Sporanox) because I had a nasty systemic yeast
infection that gave me spots all over my body and major vaginal distress.
I had blood work done in March that showed my liver enzymes slightly out of
range, I went off the meds and a month later redid the blood work to find
my ALT was 527 (now that is darned high and scared the crapola out of me).
My doctor had me begin taking Milk Thistle and alpha lipoic acid supreme
125 mg (both 3 times a day) and I retested a month later to find that I was
down over half of the 527 number and a follow up test another month later
had me totally back in the normal range. I am finishing up my milk thistle
since I bought it and just to make sure to kill the beast - haha. The
reason why I am posting is because they helped me go back to normal
numbers.
