Question:
I am feeling light-headed today.....
This is so weird, I am 8 weeks post-op, and for some reason today I am feeling "spacey and out of it", and when I stand up too fast I feel light-headed like I need to sit back down. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it? My doc's office closed an hour ago so I can't get in to see her today. Your blood pressure may be very low. Are you getting enough to drink - I
was dehydrated once and was very lightheaded - but my blood pressure was
also 90/50 at the time - all a result of the dehydration.

I'm 2+ years post op and this has been a CONSTANT problem for me. Usually,
I think, it is because of my LOW blood pressure. It has been as low as
80/40. HOWEVER, as a new post op this lightheadedness was ALWAYS LOW
POTASSIUM. Just to be on the safe side get your potassium level checked
asap. Read my profile for my early potassium woes. Low Potassium is VERY
dangerous. After all it effects muscles, and the heart is a muscle. Don't
dely in checking on this.

I went through the same things and for me it turned out to be low
potassium. I agree with the others about drinking, but try adding a glass
of low-sodium V8 for a couple of days. In addition to the potassium it has
vitamin C and other vitamins.

Just a thought, how is your Iron. Have it tested that is a common feeling
when someone is anemic and also how is your blood sugar. Has it been
running low. Are you eating protein. But my concern would be your Iron?

I agree with the other post about dehydration. I had similar experience 2
months ago. I was dehydrated. My blood pressure dropped as I sat up and
again as I stood up. I was told to drink Gatorade and got an IV of fluids
in the doctors office. Hasn't happen since. I know Gatorade has lots of
sugar in it. I did 3 parts gatorade to 1 part water. If your urine is
darker than usual you could be dehydrated.
