Question:
BC of Illinois--What does this mean?

Hi! Well, after a solid YEAR of ups and downs, it looks like we FINALLY have insurance that covers my surgery. My question is--What does "Coverage can begin on the first day OF the third month of employment". It doesn't say AFTER, so I'm wondering if it means after 60 or 90 days. I have Bc/Bs Illinois. I would not be afraid to call and ask them anything...you have the insurance... I think that it means coverage begins on the 61st day. I changed to Bc/Bs Illinois...because they did cover the surgery.. If questions feel free to email me at [email protected]

Hi, I have BC/BS of Illinois. They have been wonderful from the very beginning. I talked to them constantly and kept them up to date on all the tests I had to have and told them when they were sceduled and they said just to have them summit it to them. Their coverage of my surgery was excellent. From day one they have been nothing but helpful and curtious with all my calls. By all means if you have any question call them, there should be one person who is handing your file and ask to speak to her if possible. Good luck to you. I know the whole experience has been a very positive one for me. Had my surgery on April 14th and have lost 60 lbs. LOL Maureen

I have bcbs of Illinois too, I had surgerey 6/9 and my husband 7/28 it took 48 hours for approval for both of us after they received the info from my doctor. In fact they approved it while I waited on the phone with the rep. I got a surgery date quickly because I had them fax me the approval letter. They are wonderfule to work with. Good Luck

Hi Suzi...Let's say you started work on the 15th of September...You would be eligible for insurance on the 1st of December as that is the first day of the third month after you started..hope this helps... Lin
