Question:
Nausea when NOT eating?
I am 5.5 weeks post-op and for the last 2 days, I have had constant nausea. Mostly when I'm moving around alot, like walking and exercising. The nausea goes away when I eat, but comes back 45 minutes later. Drinking liquids does not help it. I can pretty much keep it at bay if I just sit around and do nothing, but that's pretty counter-productive. Anyone else experience this, or know why it's happening now? I was fine until yesterday. Also, around the same time the nausea started, I started having mild pain in the upper portion of my scar - I had open RNY. The pain is like a burning, pinchy feeling just on the scar, and it too hurts only when moving about. Help? — Jen D. (posted on September 6, 2003)

Jen I think you are feeling nausea because you are not eatting enough I was
like that to. I now eat something little every 2 hours and I feel much
better. 2 weeks after my surgery which surgery was Aug.7th I ended back in
the Hospital from dry heves and nausea and had to be fed threw my G-Tube
for 6 days and TRUST me it wasnt fun. Also with the pain in your scar the
same here, I have been putting Neo-Sporn on it and it seems to help but I
also get that pinching feeling also, and it hurts even more when I have a
Bra on it.But try and do the every 2 hour meal just a couple oz's it works.
Iam 44lbs down in 4 weeks. Take Care and GOOD LUCK! You can e-mail me if
you want. Christine :)

I had a lot of nausea in the first few weeks as well...until I was able to
eat more solid foods... in the meantime I was given a prescription for
Phergan, which is an anti-nausea med... call your surgeon or you primary
and ask for a script... life will be much more pleasant... (oh, and if
you're vomiting, it can be given in a suppository form, although I would
only do that if REALLY necessary! LOL... I was able to take the pills
fine).
