Question:
Change of Pace??

I am 7 weeks post op & have lost 47 pounds (Yeah!). I'm very happy with my weight loss but the last 2 weeks it has slowed down. Last week I lost 3 pounds. I haven't plateaued so I'm very fortunate. What I'm wondering is if the 3 pound loss is pretty much normal from here on out or if I should change something to spark up the melting pounds again. I am currently eating about 900 calories daily, including 2 protein shakes & protein at all 3 meals, walking an average of 1 hour daily (half the time with wrist & ankle weights), & drinking around 85 ounces of liquid daily. If I were to change one of those, which would be the best to start with??    — Kathy K. (posted on August 21, 2003)

Hi Kathy, you are doing great by the way! I am now 7 mths post -op and down 103#, and have hit many of plateaus on the way! So if you are still losing 3 lbs. a week then you aer doing fantastic and I wouldn't worry at all even if it slowed down to 1-2 lbs a week, cuz I have hit plateaus to where I didin't lose nothing for 3-4 weeks at a time. I also heard that your body needs to hit plateaus or at least slow down some to give our body time to adjust to the changes going on since it is not use to losing the weight so fastly! But anyway I hope this puts your mind at ease cuz you are doing just fine keep up the good work!

Your body is just taking a breather. It has been through he!! and it's taking a well deserved slow down. Do not fret it. I lost only 22 lbs the first month, and I was a SMO at 442 lbs, and am now down 150 lbs in a little over 6 months. So it will move. Just do your part and follow your post op plan.
