Question:
Does anyone else out there have a lot of hunger at about 18 months post op?
Hi, I'm almost 18 months post op and lately i've experienced a lot of hunger, more than I have since my gastric by pass. I am about 5 lbs from goal but I am concerned about not overeating and gaining . Has anyone out there at about the same post experienced this, and how did you deal with it. Are you going to a support group? Any information would really help. Thank you in advance. — tatterpuddin (posted on July 6, 2003)

Hi, Sherry. I am 8 months post op and I have days where I am hungry and
THINK I want to graze. I don't keep any grazing foods around..EVER! I bet
I could sit and down a TON of things like peanuts or chips. I will eat a
few peanuts when we go to Logan's. (Got one of those?) But I won't have
things like that at home. Sometimes a bit of protein will help curb the
hunger. I'm a firm beleiver in three meals a day and no snacking. Have
you tried drinking MORE water? Sometimes that will fill you up. If the
protein and the water don't do it, and you have already had a meal, it
might be head hunger. What a devil that thing is! I know when I drop a
substantial amount of weight, I tend to get hungry more often. I think my
body is fighting it's 'set point'. The hungry days? It's not always that
way. Sometimes I am afraid it will be like that from now on out. Open RNY

I am 16 months and I am hungry most of the time. SO I keep track and still
what I eat in one day on those hungry days is still not what I would eat at
one meal before this wonderful tool was given to me. I have past my goal,
just make sure you keep your exercise level higher than your intake, and
you will be fine. Tonjia-132pds
