Question:
DOES ANYONE NO WHAT DENIED-PENDING MEANS?
I have been calling the insurance company for 4 weeks everyday they tell me it is under review so today when I called to my suprise I was told it is denied-pending. I said what does that mean. He told me MAYBE it means they are requesting addtional information and it it denied until they get it. If so thats great but he said MAYBE he was not sure and I should ask my doctor. Well of course that will take another week to get the papers to the doctor. So if anyone knows what that means I would love to hear from you> I am so upset. I feel so irritable because of all this. Thank You all and God Bless you all wherever you are on your journey! — kumuat (posted on July 3, 2003)

It usually means that they want more clinical information from your pcp, or
yiur surgeon may need to expand on his letter of medical necessity.

Hey, I work at a hospital and it usually means its pending for some
additional information. If you know who handles your claims at your
insurance company call that specific person to get an answer, if not call
your Dr. office and see if they would check on it for you.

Don't worry. The only hopeless letters are the ones that come back
immediately saying "This plan does not cover any treatment for weight
loss under any circumstances." That's what I got two years ago, and
it's very uncommon. With a different insurance there was no problem. This
might just slow you down a bit! Best wishes.
