Question:
I have submitted a request for reduction at four months post-op, what are my chances?
I have always been top heavy. I ahve really bad back pain, and rashes. I just made up my mind to submit the request for reduction to see what they would say. DO you think I have a chance? If they do accept me really wouldn't it be ok to have my breasts perky instead of long and flabby as I lose weight? I just want some thoughts. Have any of you had a reduction early on in weight loss? I have lost 62 pounds in four months and not anything in cup size. Thanks! — Red T. (posted on June 12, 2003)

They will still sag as you lose weight. You would be much smarter to wait
until you are closer to goal weight and you would also have a better chance
with ins. approval. Those long saggy boobs definately cause a lot of back
pain on smaller bodies.

Hi...I would probably wait...I just had my reduction (insurance covered it)
5 weeks ago. I was very top heavy. Before WLS, I was wearing a 46II.
After I lost all the weight, I ended up a 36G and they were LOONNGGG (think
socks full of rocks). It took forever for the cup size to go down as I was
loosing, but it did eventually, and not much. Also, my insurance wouldn't
cover it unless I was within 20lbs of ideal weight. I think if you have it
done now, you'll end up needing an additional lift when you reach goal, and
insurance definitely won't pay for that. My surgery for the hospital alone
(I was outpatient too) was $10K, and I don't even know what the doc's fees
were. I do feel alot better since I've had it done, though..I'm lovin' my
C's! Good luck to you and Congrats on your weightloss so far! Denise

I have a different view on this. I was just in to see the Dr. and I am
VERY borderline now as to wether insurance will cover it (praying very hard
and hoping that if they don't, I will win an appeal). The Dr. said that if
I would have come in a month or two ago, there would be NO question, but,
although my breast hand VERY low, there is not a significant amount of
weight to them anymore (he said we would be pushing the minimum requirement
(400 grams per breast) set by the insurance company, and still leave a full
B cup. (Just think, there are B cup women out there wanting my 34G
cup...LOL)
I guess if you made an appointment and let the Dr. know that you are still
ACTIVELY losing weight he/she would give you the best plan of action. Your
first appt. is a consult anyways, so go and consult your issues and they
will help you. Good luck!
