Question:
Im' wondering when the dr. says clear diet for week one and full liquid for weeks 2-4
does that mean start on full liquids two weeks from date of surgery or do you start seven days from your surgery. I had surgery on May 20th and Im on liquids It'll be 7 days tomorrow and Im wondering if its ok to go to the next phase or do they mean 2wks from surgery which will be June 3rd. Another Question is when do you finally eat normal meaning anything(Thats good for you of course)you want but in smaller portions — TCP1918 B. (posted on May 27, 2003)

I had my WLS with BTC and I was to do the Full Liquid stage at 7-20 days,
then pureed stage from 21-34 days then soft foods from 35-41 days. From
day 42 on I could reintroduce normal foods. All surgeons have different
guidelines. You may want to call your nutririonist or surgeon's office and
ask them specifically what they mean.

I had my surgery on 5/15/03. For me, the Dr has, clear liquids for 7 days
after surgery, full liquids for 7 days after that. THen we have soft and
pureed foods in one catagory for 2-4 weeks after full liq. Then we slowly
add reg foods into our diets as tolerated. Good luck to you!

everyone will interpret this thier own way BUT aall that matters is what
YOUR specific surgeon said......
I work in direct patient healthcare for 16 years and when a physician
states "week 2" he means the beginning ofthe second week which in
your case is day 8 from surgery

Let me be the token post-op who asks the more general question: why are you
concerned about when you may "finally eat normal"? Although I
was concerned with wanting to follow my doctors prescribed eating regimine,
I was also fighting the desire to overeat and to consume all the wrong
foods (which I batte to this day). In the first few weeks after surgery, I
found myself wondering when I would be able to "finally eat
normal". Luckily, a stomach bug intervened and I was able to use the
time it took for my stomach to get over the bug to try to focus on not
making food and eating a primary concern. Not wanting to be a downer, but
just hoping that you might save yourself some long-term pain by trying to
figure out now how important food is. Good luck.
