Question:
has anyone done no white carbs and still get to goal?
HI I am 8 months out, I have lost 120 pounds and doing well, have like 25-30 more to go. I tried doing the atkins but it made me depressed and think about food all the time. Plus I read that when you go off it you gain it all back. I was going to just cut out the white carbs and eat like wheat bread and fruit for the carbs but of course always eat protien first. I was going to add an extra day at the gym and really drink that water, do you think I can still get to goal? Thank you in advance for your support and honesty. Hi, I haven't eaten any bread, rice, pasta, etc. except for an occasional
potato since surgery and I am nine months out. BUT that was my addiction
before surgery and I don't want to go back to that addiction--that is the
only reason I choose not to eat it. I just starting eating a small amount
of fruit (I dump very easy). I eat tons of beans (I am a vegetarian),
oatmeal, hard corn taco shells--so I do eat carbs. I don't really monitor
that stuff because it makes my life too complicated. I exercise 4-6 days a
week, drink water, protein drinks, etc. I weigh about 120.5 at
5'2.5". My goal is to be at 108lbs. I definitely think you can make
goal, just eat right and exercise. I am also pretty strict about
snacking--I don't. Just do what's right for you though. We all just want
to be normal right???? Good luck to you--YOU CAN DO IT! 212/120.5/108

I know that you were looking for people who are at goal. However I'm
almost 10 weeks out and I haven't had any white carbs since my surgery as
well. Carbs were my addiction before surgery, so I decided to leave them
out completely I've lost 55 pounds so far. I know the adkins thing can be
hard at first, but once you get past the first week usually your hunger
subsides. I would concentrate on your protein intake and maybe limit your
carbs, if you don't want to give them up. I'm sure you will make it to
goal! Best wishes,

Nicole, I'm surprised you didn't get more answers to your question but from
knowing my support group members and other posters, yes, many, many have
gotten to goal and under goal and have eaten white carbs. The key though
is to not eat them all the time. I am 7 pounds from goal and have had
white carbs all along, but small amounts. I usually stick to whole grain
breads, protein foods, but do eat the occasional bite of potato, rice,
rolls and pasta, cookies, cakes and yes, sugar. But not all the time! One
thing I decided when starting this journey was that I was going to learn
how to eat normally. Normal to me means having white carbs, sugar and all
the other foods that life has to offer. What I had to learn was
moderation, the habit of regular exercise, being consistent with water and
eating protein first. So far, it has worked to get me within 7 pounds of
goal.
