Question:
How do you use ice trays to help with food measurement after surgery?
I'm sure there is another question about this somewhere, but I have looked and I can't seem to find one. My doctor suggested that I buy some ice trays to freeze portions of food. Has anyone else done this and if so, what exactly did you do? Also, any other suggestions for things to have on hand after surgery would be greatly appreciated. Only 7 more days to go! — Jennifer H. I assume he/she was referring to liquids and soft or pureed foods. I
spooned my liquids/softs into the ice cube trays and then froze them. Once
they're frozen you can pop the cubes into a labeled zippy bag. When you
want to eat them stick one or two cubes into a micro container and zap it
until hot. Saves on throwing out soups and such before you can eat it all.

My nutritionist had me do this early on because each ice cube compartment
is approx. 1 oz. it makes it really easy to see how much you are eating. I
also bought extra trays to cut up into little individual cups...I could not
find any 1 oz. shot glasses. Anyway a cheap Ice cube tray is about $.50 and
you get 16 little cups out of one tray.
