Every morning I wake up I feel sick on my stomach like I need to throw-up but I fight it and so far I have been lucky not to have vomited I am almost 4 weeks post - op and this has been going on about for a week I told my doc and he gave me phenergren( mispelled ) but when I take that I feel even worse I have tried drinking and eating a little to see if that would help but nothing is working around noon I seem to feel better but so drained from feeling like I am going to puke all morning. Sounds as though you might be hitting your "window of misery"
when the stomach has healed and has adhesions that make it feel tight. It
just does not give as much as it should. This will pass. It will get more
flexible and not be as tight as time goes on. This is just for a short
period of time.

What mg of Phenergan did the doctor give you? You might talk to him/her
about a different dosage. Phenergan usually works really well, if you are
getting the correct dose. Have you tried eating a few crackers? Goldfish
crackers are what saved my butt when I was in that stage. I'm so sorry you
are going through this. It DOES pass, but it's hell when you are in it. I'm
4.5 months post, and I haven't puked once. It was a combination of
Phenergan, and goldfish. ;) Hang in there! You'll be past it soon!

You must keep in touch with your surgeon and let him know that it is not
helping. Knowing the med not working, helps him to determine what is going
on. Too many of us are reluctant to bother the surgeon and wind up in even
more trouble. This is serious businees. Most likely it is just part of
the healing process but don't depend on this board to replace your docs.

this came up at our last support meeting and even before surgery, the
nutritionist told us that many post-op people have this same problem and
what they have advised us to do is drink a cup of hot tea first thing
before trying to eat or drink anything. What it does is thin out the
mucuos (sp) that had drained down into our pouches during the night and
helps it to go on thru so we can eat and drink without beibng so nauseated.
I personally dont like hot tea but i do grab a cup of hot coffee first
thing. I really have this problem every day. If this is what is causing
your nausea, then phenergan won't help it.

Call your surgeon back ASAP. This happened to my wife. Antibiotics fixed a
bacteria problem in the gut. Demand to be seen before you cant drink and
get dehydrated. Flagyl fixed her fast. Its pretty common.

I went thru severe nausea from around week 3 until I was almost 3 mos post
op. I had a terrible time. I called my surgeon and all they suggested (in
light of no other symptoms) was to take Mylanta. I could not even stomach
that. I felt like a pregnant woman. My sense of smell was very heightened
and that added to my nausea. I was also told that many ppl go thru this.
I ate lots of saltine crackers ("lots" being a relative word
here) and I tried to concentrate on getting in any kind of fluid I could,
as I couldn't even drink. (I mixed Gatorade half and half with water and
then down to a third.) I also had read to take an antihistimine so I took
one at night (Clarinex) to see if I could get any relief.
Other post ops told me that it would eventually pass and they were right.
Suddenly, one day, it just vanished, at around 2 and a half mos out.
I really feel for you. It's rough.
I also agree with other posters that it's very important to let your doc
know what is going on with you. Very important.
Good luck!
