Question:
Oozing from scar- 2 Months Post Op. Input Needed.

I had my open RNY 2 months ago and have been oozing from my scar ever since. I asked the surgeon and he said it's normal. Well, the bottom part cleared up about 2 weeks ago and the top of the scar opened a tiny bit, not even a quarter of an inch and there is now something about the size of a pimple sticking out. I have been pushing it in and putting Neosporin and gauge on, but could this be a tiny piece of intestine??? I was wondering if it too will heal on it's own or if I need a couple stitches. Cindi, I would go to your regular PCP, not your surgeon about this. This is whay I love my surgeon- he admits "i'm a surgeon- I dond't know everything." 3 months after an ulcer surgery, mu incision opened up again and was leaking and I had a small blister/pimple type thing there. It's not your intestines, don't get freaked out. You may have an infection though, that was the case with me, so I would check it out with your regular doctor. After 2 weeks of anitbiotics, it cleared right up. Goodluck to you!

My wound opened up it looked like a bullet hole, go to your local drug store get this stuff called wound wash saline, it doesn't hurt. spray it in the wound to irrigate it then put some neosporin on it and cover it with a gauze, it will heal in a week or two.
