Question:
Do you use a food scale? Which one? and if not...
I am 5 weeks post op and I am constantly worried that I might be eating too much. I want to be able to measure the ounces but I dont know which food scale to buy. All the food scales which measure ounces are soo expensive. Does anyone know of any brand which is cheaper and avaiable at Walmart or something? Also for the folks who dont use a scale..how do you assess how much you are consuming or if you are consuming too much or too little? — krism2003 (posted on April 13, 2003)

Hi.. I have never used a food scale, but at 3 months out, I still use
measuring cups. Just remember that 2 ounces = .25 cup, 4 ounces = .5 cup,
etc, and you should do fine. It's not the weight of the food that is as
important as the amount of room it takes up, so using those little
measuring cups works great! Good luck!<br>

I went to Gordon food service and bought a package of 2 oz. plastic
containers (250 to a pack) for about $4.00. Then I measured my meal in
them and then just threw them away.

I found one at Walmart that measures ounces. It even has a little box
holder on top so you can measure meats. It is from a company called Good
Cook and cost me 4.99 retail at WalMart. It was hard to find. Practically
hidden behind the 29.99 scales but it is there right next to the kitchen
assesories area. (jar openers, hand can openers, stirring spoons, etc.)
hope this helps.

GNC has a very nice scale. I bought it about 1 yr ago and it measures the
ounces. I paid $9 for it. It is wonderful, sturdy and dependable. One of
the best investments I have made.
