Do you use a food scale? Which one? and if not...

I am 5 weeks post op and I am constantly worried that I might be eating too much. I want to be able to measure the ounces but I dont know which food scale to buy. All the food scales which measure ounces are soo expensive. Does anyone know of any brand which is cheaper and avaiable at Walmart or something? Also for the folks who dont use a scale..how do you assess how much you are consuming or if you are consuming too much or too little?
