Question:
what happens if your stress test comes back with a little abnormalties
my stress test came back with a little abnormalties, and my doctor has to read them before he could tell me anything. im worried that they might stop the surgery on may 29th. but he also seems to think its because of my size and thats why it is the way it is. any advise would be greatly appreciated. — Maureen A. 6 years ago at the age of 43 I was going through pre-op testing to have a
lap gall bladder removal. Long and short of it, I went thru every heart
testing thru the stress test and the cardiologist still was concerned with
the abnormalities he saw and strongly suggested a heart catheterization
before he'd give clearance for surgery. Some coronary artery disease was
present, and some general heart muscle weakness but nothing that would
require any type of intervention so I was cleared for surgery. This
happened again in Feb to me when I was scheduled for neck surgery. Some
changes in EKG brought about a stress test and abnormalites brought about a
second ekg which delayed that surgery for 18 days but only because of
scheduling problems. If your surgery is over a month away, even if further
testing is needed it shouldn't stop the surgery unless something is
actually found in further evaluation.

It depends on what the abnormality was on your test. Was it an St
depression and if so how much? Was it the fact that you could not stress
for very long and get your heart rate up? Did you have chest pain? Did you
have an arrhythmia? Were you short of breath? These are the questions you
should be asking. If it is just the fact that you tired quickly then it
could be because of your size. If he didn't call for a catheterization
right away, then my thinking is that it is not that serious and one more
point in your favor for having the surgery done.
