Question:
How many meals a day are y'all eating?
I have heard several members say they eat 6 small meals a day. Almost 2 weeks ago I started eating a Balance bar for breakfast(I use to never eat b-fast)a small lunch, another Balance bar a couple hours after lunch with maybe a few slices of yummy cheese, then about 4-5 hours later dinner. It actually jump started my weight loss which had slowed down. I lost 3 lbs in a few days. Maybe it was the added protein? Each balance bar has 15 grams of protien and they are less than 2oz in size and about 200 calories. What has been your experience? — Michelle H. (posted on March 28, 2003)

I've been doing 5-6 meals per day since my surgery on the advice of my
nutritionist. It helps to keep the blood glucose level steadier
throughout the day...JR

I drink a shake for breakfast (34g of protein), a small lunch, today was a
Boca burger with a slice of cheese melted over it, and dinner was the
inside of half a meatball calzone (I was out and the choices were limited).
In between, I drank my 6-7 cups of water. I include my shake as part of
the 8 cup requirement. I do feel I could eat more, but with all that
water, I don't seem to have the time to wait between liquids and solids and
get more food in, especially after I drink the shake.

Michelle, don't you just love those Balance bars!?! I just discovered them
and am so happy! At 10 months post-op (down 115lbs.) I will usually do
breakfast, lunch and dinner and 1-2 protein shakes and one balance bar.
This works great for me, considering I have low B/P and an ulcer, so i need
my stomach full all the time! Your intake sounds good to me. Goodluck to
you!

I eat 3 times a day and rarely snack. If I do snack it's no more then once
during a day. I sometimes at 7 months post op don't feel I'm getting enough
to eat but my weight loss isn't real fast so I must be getting enough food
right or I'd loose faster and if I was getting to much I wouldn't loose at
all. I'm 71/2 months post op and down 112 pounds.

I eat 5-6 meals per day. It keeps my insulin steady and keeps the fire
burning (for weight loss). I am a slow loser and if I go below 5-6 meals,
I stop losing completely. I am having trouble eating and am having an
endoscopy next week but I still try to put something in me (I'm back on
soft foods) every 2-3 hours.

I ate 5-6 tiny meals when a fresh postie. I eat 4 now, 8 yrs out. But I've
never had a Balance Bar--that's triple the amount of sugar I allow per
meal.
