Question:
I need help with the appeal process!! Please can someone

give me some advice? I have Cigna HMO, and they say that I need to provide them with 2 years of my diet history, plus with that have 2 26 week supervised diets. I cannot wait another year to have this surgery, nor can I afford to pay for these supervised diets. Can anyone help me? Please?    — Kylie E. (posted on February 9, 2003)

I had a similar problem trying to get approval, but Cigna is a stickler for the physician supervised diet. When I went for my consult last January, my surgeon warned me that I didn't have enough diet history for approval. I went to my physician the same week and asked told her what he had said. She gave me a diet sheet and we began the 12 week physician supervised diet. I weighed in once a month. At the end of the 12 weeks, I got copies of her notes and resubmitted and I was approved by the end of May. Get started now. As long as you have the info in your doctor's notes about it, you should be okay.
