Question:
Duodenal Mass?

I am scheduled for my surgery on Feb. 12. I should say WAS. I had my upper GI series last week. Today my surgeon tells me that they found a duodenal mass. Now I have a CT scan Thurs. and an EGD on Tuesday. Surgery is now postponed or cancelled. Now all I can think about is the fact that I now may have cancer. I'm scared to death and my eyes are so swollen I can barely see from crying. Has anyone else been told they have a duodenal mass?    — lindadougherty (posted on January 28, 2003)

Linda, call your doctor and ask what the mass could be. Have him explain the different possible things that could be going on. Ask him what percentage of masses like this are cancerous. Hopefully its a low percentage. I know what it is like to wait for the results--just try not to worry until you get the results. Good luck.
