I don't know the answer to this question, but I am 17 weeks pregnant and I have been having some complications for the past 2 weeks. I have been in the hospital twice - once I started bleeding so much, it just dropped out of me - the second time I let out a clot twice the size of an egg. My OB told me that I do have a 15% chance of miscarrage right now, although my cervix shows no signs of dialation. The baby is normal. Heartbeat size and all. And my bloodwork came back fine. I asked if it might be associated with the RNY, but they told me no. No explanation at all. Just a freak thing. I am about 7 months post op, and this is my first. Things will get better, I am sorry for your loss. Heather

I am very sorry for your & your husband's loss and heartbreak. I do not feel that surgery would have anything but positive affects on a pregnancy. I also feel you are looking for reasons why - and in event of a misscarriage there usually are NO set reasons why. Still 1/3 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage with in the first trimester- with or without WLS. It could have been a number of things- you should look at babycenter.com as they have a list of frequent miscarriage causes and helpful suggestions on how to cope.

I am just a new post-op (10-31-02) so I havent become pregnant yet. However in 2000 I lost my baby also. It is very hard and a lot of people don't understand. I do understand and you and your family have my deepest sympathy for your lost. Just remember your baby will always be with you in your heart. God Bless you and I pray you will have a Happy Holiday!!!!!! Farrah
