Question:
Approved for Abdominoplasty in two weeks 20lbs from goal...
I am approved for Abdominoplasty. It is scheduled for two weeks from now. I am 20 months post op and still 20 pounds from goal. The weight is still moving but VERY slowly. Should I postpone the abdominoplasty until I am closer? Or will it be okay? All opinions are welcome! Thank you! — Virginia N. (posted on December 5, 2002)

Maybe after the excess skin is removed you won't be that far from goal.
Good luck.

I had abdominoplasty when I was about nine months out and 20 pounds from
goal. Between the stress of surgery and missed meals and what he took off,
I lost 10 pounds that week. I have lost five or six more since then and I
am still very pleased with the results.

I was at 140 when I had my abdominoplasty. I was 10 pounds from my goal.
I lost 5 pounds of skin and then I lost another 10 pounds in about 6
weeks!! The surgery seemed to jumpstart my slow weight loss and I ended up
getting 5 pounds lower then my goal. You have to remember, depending on
what your starting weight was and how much excess skin you have to remove,
they will remove between 5 and 10 pounds of skin so that will put you at
about 10 pounds from your goal weight.
