Question:
Will the surgery tool work?
Hi All, My open rny is scheduled for tomorrow. I am having the surgery to regain my health. Last night, my husband, who is extremely supportive, finally confessed that he is scared. Scared of the risks, but mainly scared that if I go through all of this, it may not work to eliminate the high blood pressure, fatigue, kidney problems, etc. I realize there are no guarantees, but to me, the option is this or have my health go down even faster. What did you say to a scared DH to reassure him? Thanks! — Mary Ann B. (posted on December 1, 2002)

Go to www.wlscenter.com. Look down the left side of the screen for a 'to
all significant others'. Read that and have your husband read it too. It
may help. I'll also email you another letter from a husband about his
wife's surgery. It's too long to post here.

Have him read my profile. My husband was scared too before I had the
surgery. Now he is a huge advocate for WLS. It isn't only that I have
lost all of the weight. My diabetes is gone, blood pressure is now normal,
cholesteral is normal. And I have a life again. Instead of watching my
children play, I play with them. I feel like a kid again. In only six
months I am down 107 pounds, which is 7 pounds below goal. I have gone
from a size 24 to a 6. It works!!!
