Question:
Looking for WLS friendly PCP in San Jose, CA who accepts UHC
My surgeons office has given me several names of WLS friendly PCPs but they are a bit far for me, though I will try one of them if need be. I was hoping to try closer to home first, also realizng they will need to be In-Network for me. Thanks! Lynn — Lynn W. (posted on November 27, 2002)

Hi! I don't know of one to recommend, but I know there is an active group
in San Jose. I posted a question about UCSF (GRR where I am supposed to
go). A kind lady wrote: "A bit off topic, but if you'd like to learn
about duodenal switch, there are info meetings the first Saturday of every
month at the San Jose Regional Medical Center. http://gr-ds.com. I'm
extremely happy with DS and surgeon!". You might try going to the
support group. When I went to the group for the doctor that I want to go
to (Dr. Asbun), many people there were full of PCP suggestions. That might
be very helpful. Also, I scanned the doctor pages - where patients write
about their impressions of the doctor - well in looking at those and then
people's profiles there were often comments about pro-WLS PCPs. That might
be a good lead. Good Luck to you! - Elizabeth

Hi there, I don't know if my PCP takes your insurance, but you can contact
his office. He is very supportive to WLS and I was referred to him last
year by another person who had this surgery. His name is Dr. Hernan
Casanovas, located across from O'Connor Hospital in San Jose. Good luck!
