Question:
Looking into full-time employment to recieve benefits...
Does anybody know of a nationwide corporation that uses an insurance company that normally approves the surgery? I want to work full-time somewhere starting in January and then get benefits to have the surgery during the summer. I read that Big Lots or Home Depot does...but I'm wondering if there are any others? I'm not sure I'd like to be standing up all day. (Or if anybody knows of something locally in Lubbock, that's good too.) — Courtney G. (posted on November 21, 2002)

This is just a thought - I have no idea if it will work or not but you
might contact the WLS surgeon's office and they could tell you some of
their patient's employers (no patient's names of course) and you would know
where to look. I'm not sure if this violates any ethics policies but it
couldn't hurt to ask. I hope you find the perfect place!!

Courtney, If you have a Blue Cross office near you I would try to get on
there. I have worked for BC BS of Indiana for 33 years and love the work.
They have a variety of clerical jobs that they can train you to do, if you
like office work. I would assume most Insurance Co. offer BC BS to their
employees. BC BS is a big co and they usually try to keep up with current
benefits. Hope you find something. Nancy Poe

My sister-in-law works for Blue Cross doing data entry and she says they
have wonderful benefits. Several of her co-workers have recently left to
have wls. Good luck with your job search!

I almost forgot - apparently when you are a BCBS employee, they do not have
pre-existing condition waiting periods, etc.
