Question:
Can the gallbladder be removed dureing a Lap RNY?
I have read that a gallbladder cannot be removed during Lap RNY. Is this true? When a person just has gallbladder surgery it can be done with Lap procedure. Then why is it said that Lap RNY and gallbladder removal cannot be done at the same time? — Jan S. (posted on November 4, 2002)

They are frequently done together. Unless the person has other issues like
previous abdominal surgery.

from my understanding, talking to my surgeon, it can be done, but you may
have an xtra holeor two to be able to get into the right area. I am sure
that is different from patient to patient- Doc to Doc

Yes the gallbladder can be removed during a Lap procedure. Ive seen
pictures of it after it has been done and I think it left an additional
scar of approx 1 to 2 inches.

Yes, you can have your gallbladder removed during lap. I had mine removed
at the same time. I have 7 holes instead of 6 and my entire surgery took 1
1/2 hours. Lap RNY 4-9-02 -102lbs

I had had 3 c-sections and an exploratory and my doctor removes the gall
bladder if pre-op scan shows stones. I have 7 little scars from Lap.
