Question:
Is Dannon Lite & Fit fat free yougurt a good choice for fast breakfast?

I was just wanting some opinions. I tried Dannon Lite & Fit fat free yougurt today. I was thinking that would be good & fast for me to eat for breakfast. I did notice though on the label it had something like 16 grams of sugar and I think around 120 calories. Is this a smart choice for breakfast or should I steer clear of it? Does anyone eat this for breakfast or snack etc? Thanks!    — Allison T. (posted on October 18, 2002)

That's just about triple the amount of sugar I allow myself per meal. I do a half yogurt sometimes, but never for bfast. That much sugar would leave me wanting carbs all day long. If I do a yogurt, it has to be after my protein shake, so that is the first thing on board. 30g protein first thing & I get a grip on my appetite. Carb first & the carbs are in charge all day.

I dumped when I tried to eat near a whole container at once. Just be careful if you try.

I eat the Dannon fat free, artificially sweetened yogurt for breakfast almost every day. If you can tolerate that kind I think it would be a better choice but I know some people won't eat anything with aspartane and I do understand that decision. I had the kind you eat to and it makes me a little nauseated (the sugar I guess). My nutritionist told me that my yogurt was a good breakfast choice though. I eat a 4oz container. When I did accidently buy the kind you get with sugar I couldn't eat as much of it either for some reason it filled me up quicker. Now I eat 1/2 a protein bar a couple days a week too. I don't really like them but am trying to find one that tastes good to me. Good luck with whatever youd decide. Carrie

I've had the 4-oz. container with a scoop of cottage cheese for protein. No problems here.

I eat the 40z Dannon Lite Fit and Creamy. It only has 6g of sugar in it, and I can eat it without any problems. If I tried to eat more, I would not be able to get it in my pouch! Anyway, today is my 1 month anniversary, and I have not had any problems. Like one of the previous posters said, Protein first! I drink a 40g protein shake first thing in the morning, before I do anything, and that sets me up for a good day. I drink a shake from GNC called RTD Anabolic Drive - it has 40g of protein in one shake! And it tastes good.

I eat Blue Bunny Lite 85 yogurt, made with Splenda. Vanilla Creme and Mixed Berry are my favorites (I don't recommend Bananas Foster...yuck, yuck and more yuck!) Go to www.bluebunny.com and give them your feedback on their products and they will send you wonderful coupons in the mail, and you can print one from your computer as well! I gave feedback on the No Sugar Added Reduced Fat Ice Cream (to die for!) and they mailed me a coupon for a FREE 1/2 gallon! A $4 or $5 value! Plus a couple dollars worth of yogurt coupons. Best wishes - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -76lbs.

It's an excellent choice! It has a good amount of protein and the sugar in it is from lactose and fructose and NOT refined sugar....so the sugar grams it lists is fine for RNY patients.
