Question:
Anyone know of a good support group in Chicago?
I'm still looking for a support group in Chicago. I'd prefer the city or north suburbs, but being that my date is approaching, I'm getting less picky about location. I just want a group that is open to all (i.e., not just those who had surgery through a particular hospital). Thanks. — Tamara K. (posted on October 10, 2002)

I don't know how far you want to go but the one i go to is in Evanston at
St Francis Hospital the last Thursday of every month from 7-9pm. I know the
wish center in Downers Grove has one but i don't remember what day or time.
There is also one in elk grove but i don't know the details on that one
just heard about it from someone that switched to our group at St Francis.
Any questions feel free to e-mail [email protected]

Tamara,
I haven't been to a support group in person yet, but I did start a
yahoogroup support group for Chicagoland WLS'ers.

Tamara - there is a support group at Loyola University Medical Center on
the first Wednesday evening of each month. Many of the participants are
patients of the WLS program at Loyola , but several are not. Some are
pre-op, some post, and some come just to support loved-ones. The sessions
are hosted by the program's nutritionists. Our topics range from pre-op
preparations, to pos-op food choices, to plastic surgery options. Please
consider joining us - we are a fun group.

Tamara, There is a support group at Alexian Bros. Hospital in Elk Grove
Village. I believe they meet every other Sat from 9am-10:30a. I do not
have the phone # handy, but you can either call info or email me and I will
get it for you. Stephanie Teal [email protected]
