Question:
I have not loss any weight
in about 2 months, but I am losing inches like crazy. I went to my doctor 3 weeks ago and I told him that sometimes I eat normally and some times I don't eat at all. He said on the days I don't feel like eating DON'T and forget protein drinks, it's not necessary. But I haven't loss any weight. I tried upping my protein and calories but nothing will make this scale move.... Any advice???? — Rebe W. (posted on September 12, 2002)

In the first six weeks after my surgery I lost 65 pounds or so. Then in
month 3 I lost 4 pounds! How disappointing is that??? What I can tell you
is that one month I will usually lose more weight and the following month I
will lose more inches. I try not to let the scale bother me - try and
adopt the same philosophy! Oh..and on those days you don't eat or barely
eat - be careful. I found out my body was retaining every conceivable
calorie for several weeks because I was frequently only getting in 300
calories a day. Best of luck to you!!!

Hi, If you are losing inches and not pounds you could be gaining muscle.
Muscle weighs more than fat so actually you ARE losing weight. Keep up the
great work!!!!

Actually, losing inches is more healthy than the scale. You are not losing
muscle, which most of us do. At least the clothing sizes should be going
down. Eventually the weight will come off. I wouldn't stop the type of
exercise you are doing. I lost 84lbs which I am totally happy about, but
what's frustrating is I see many people who started out like me at a lower
clothing size. I guess we can't have it all ways.

Only one thought, are you drinking enough water?
