Question:
My brother had a surgery for bowel obstruction 3 days ago

He had RNY 2 months ago and developed a bowel obstruction 4 days ago. 3 days ago they operated on him. He seems to be doing OK, but he is having abdominal pain after he drinks. The pain is not severe but still it is there. I was just wondering if this is normal after this complication. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.    — Ella P. (posted on June 6, 2002)

I had something similar but it was 5 days after my RNY. Had a hernia that the doctor did not repair during lap RNY. 5 days later, my bowel was sucked into the hernia and kinked. Lots of pain and Emergency surgery the next day. I did have all sorts of pains, to include when I drank, after the surgery. By week 4 I was fine.
