Question:
All these things..no sugar added, sugar free, fruit juices..are they okay to eat?
I'm a little confused. I found some Dole frozen fruit pops that say "no sugar added". Is that okay to eat? What about fruit juices? I know a lot of them have a lot of natural sugars. I can live on that stuff alone. Are they okay to drink? I tend to go to the sugar can you tell?..LOL Also I could go crazy on sugar free things. For example sugar free pudding, pies, cookies etc. Is it still okay to do this? I feel guilty like I'm cheating & will get back into old habbits? I feel as if I should go all or nothing but it is so hard to say away completely!! Any recommendations? — Allison T. (posted on April 19, 2002)

Sugar free and fat free would be best and probabaly fine. You still need to
read lables as they may have too many carbs. No sugar added has sugar in
it. Like a bananna bar has sugar listed in the nutritional info. I gan only
eat 6 gms at one time then I start to dump---- Good Luck

Hi Allison,
I am 5 wks. post op and I bought the Dole pops. I haven't eaten alot of
them, but when I would feel my blood sugar dropping I would grab one. I
have had no problem with them at all. I also use Juicy Juice (diluted). I
have never had high blood sugar levels so this was a bit of a problem for
me when I got home after surgery. If you are not a diabetic with high sugar
levels, I suggest you keep your juices and Dole pops around. As far as all
the other sugar free snacks, I am just choosing to stay away from them. I
like sweets too and probably should be doing a little pudding but I don't.
Good Luck!!!

I was told natural sugars are ok in moderation, cause I was instructed by
my Dr to drink a glass of juice a day. There is a HUGE difference between
fat free and sugar free, be careful a lot of the sugar free stuff is still
fattening! So watch your moderations and portions... Find a substitute for
your sugar cravings... I took mine out on pickles and fresh veggies w/ a
fat free peppercorn ranch dressing... Watch your old vices... they are
STILL trouble! Good luck in your journey!
