Question:
Anyone been approved from Humana ChoiceCare withOUT Dr-supervised diet?
I have Humana ChoiceCare and wondered if they will approve without physician-supervised diet? If so, what were your circumstances? I have tried a nutricianist supervised wieght loss, but it was when I was 11 and the hospital no longer has the records for this. Thank you! — Jennifer B. (posted on April 17, 2002)

Hi!
I have Humana Choice Care and was approved from the first with very little
hassle. I went to my Primary Care Physician who gave me a referral to the
surgeon (Dr. Jay Wesley Alexander, in Cincinnati). Dr. Alexander's
requirements were: 18 month diet history, a letter from my PCP about why I
am a good candidate for this surgery--comorbidities, etc. Choice Care
approved because I met the basic conditions for the surgery--100 pounds
overweight or more. I have not had any problems getting this taken care of
as long as I have followed the requests and requirements of the Doctors.
This has taken quite awhile to get everything scheduled; however, in the
process I have had lots of time to research and feel comfortable about this
decision. Monday, April 22nd at 7:45, I will be in surgery as a result. I
wish you well. If you have any further questions, please let me know!

I have Humana and they were wonderful . I never went to my PCP because she
was against it . I went straight to the surgeon . I was approved after one
letter , the same day they got the letter I was approved . Good luck and
best wishes
