Question:
Can someone please tell me what is ideal as far as

daily intake of fat/calories/sugar, etc?? I know all about the protein, so please, dont say protein. I am wondering how many grams of fat, and how many calories etc should I be taking in on a daily basis. I am a new post op of a few weeks.. I am drinking 2 liters of water a day, taking my vitamins and protein supp and walking, but I REALLY want to know about the limits to everything else. And No, I am not wanting to know so i can push those limits, I just want to stay within the limits so i can lose. Can someone give me some input on what they follow?    — Summersect (posted on March 12, 2002)

I just went to my WLS for my check up and because of my 6 week platuea he has me on a reduced fat diet. I am 43, 5'2" 204 pounds and 6 months out from RNY. Started at 280. He told me to keep fat intake to 30-45 grams of fat a day and around 1500 to 1600 calories a day. I walk 2 miles a day and do situps and free weights too. I don't get 1500 calories in a day at this point, but he said if I did this I should be losing again. That is what I know. I would maybe search the internet or talk to your WLS or PCP to see what they think is best for you. Good luck and I hope we get many responses to this question as well.

70% protein, 20% carbs and 10% fat. If you go to www.fitday.com you can see a chart as to how you are doing. Good Luck

I take in no more then 900 calories a day, drink almost 100 oz water, limit my carbs to no more then 20grms, and my fat intake may be around 30 grms. I do my best not to consume sugar, but I do have a teaspoon of mayo here and there which has sugar in the ingredients but lists no sugar??? If I do have a sugar craving, I have a carbolite bar, which is made with Splenda, and are very good. AS far as limits, I'm not sure. Everyone's surgeon and nutritionist's have different views. Many people I have talked to do the same as I, and there are many who eat more calories, and add more carbs. My diet is not a set one by my surgeon, but he is aware of what I'm doing and says that he thinks it's a good thing.
