Question:
I'm 10 days post-op and feeling as if I'm not doing enough.
Before the surgery I had a bit of a depressive episode and did lots of wallowing on the couch and hibernating, now 10 days after the surgery I'm right back where I was, I don't feel brave enough to go out, I'm afraid I'll feel sick once I do or have to go to the bathroom or something like that, so I just sit around at home watching TV, any ideas how I can get out of this runt. — Diane B. Start slow and take you time. 10 days is not very much time out girl! Take
some baby steps. I am pre op so I am not much help as far as what to do
after surgery but I can say I am a PROFESSIONAL at depressed hybernation!
lol Sometimes even if I can just get out for an hour it starts to life.
Another thing I find very helpful is not only to journal here on the
computer but also on paper. I hope you get past this "phase" so
you can start to get to know your new body and get a chance to mess with
your new tool lol Good luck!

put my knee out recently so im down and out with that so ive been
"couching" lately but i do try to walk as much as possible to
keep my circulation going no clots! id love to walk outside but too cold
and slippery just yet just listen to your body if it needs rest it will
tell you your body needs time to get into the swing of things and i tell
you it will get better i already feel muc better than i did 10 days out
good luck to you :)

You *just* had MAJOR surgery!!! This is to be expected. You are going to
feel listless and dragging for a little while. Just try to get out at
least once a day to do a little walking, take in some fresh air and feel
the sun. It will be refreshing, and then you can come back home and take a
nap. Thats what I did. Like the other poster said, baby steps. And
welcome to the other side!!
