Question:
A question about pain and nosebleeds
I have two questions! First of all, I have been having nosebleeds left right and center this week. I will just be sitting at my desk and all of a sudden there's blood everywhere. I know right after surgery I had that problem, but my doctor attributed it to the blood thinners, but now for it all of a sudden to start again, it worries me. Could it be some sort of nutritional deficiency??? Has anyone else experienced this? <br> My second question is this, starting early on Monday I have had a dull pain on my lower right abdomen right where my drain was. It's not overly painful, just kind of there and annoying. It seems like it should be something you can feel, like a lump, but whn I try, nothings there, it's like it's deeper than that. Could this be something serious or just a pulled muscle or something? The pain hasn't gotten any wors, but it is constantly there. Has anyone had a similar experience? Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks! — Deborah W. (posted on January 24, 2002)

Deborah,
I too had a problem with nose bleeds. They would start without warning and
they were heavy. I have not a clue to this day as to what the cause was.
I would advise you to see your doctor regarding this. I did and they could
not find a thing. The weather here did change drastically when my nose
bleeds started (very cold, very dry) but I've lived in the same place for
years with no problem. I'd never had nose bleeds before so this freaked me
out. My doctor ordered bloodwork and they could not find anything wrong
other than a little scab inside of my nose. I've started taking vitamin E
which someone on this site suggested and I don't know if it helped or not
but about a week after I started my nose bleeds got considerably lighter
and now I don't have them at all. I can not stress enough that you should
see your physician because as someone reminded me, it may not have anything
to do with your weightloss surgery at all. As far as pain at your drainage
tube site, I had that for about the first four months and it went away. I
don't know what the cause was but it has disappeared. I wish you well and
I will close by saying....See your doctor.
