Question:
Are there any independent insurance policies that don't exclude WLS?

I have been researching the possibilities of self-pay vs. independent insurance. I know that it would be wiser to have insurance as backup in case there are complications, but I can't seem to find a policy that doesn't exclude either overweight people or have an exclusion when it comes to WLS. I have even researched the ones that charge in excess of $200 a month for a policy but to no avail. I am currently located in Indiana, I am a resident of California, but I am relocating to Colorado in the next few months so I could make any of the three states work if someone knows of a policy that would work for me.    — Angela K. Colorado has a program, Colorado Uninsurable Health Insurance Plan (CUHIP) which allows people who have medical conditions to get insurance. You have to have been turned down by at least three different insurers and you can be charged 1 1/2 times the normal premium. I have no idea whether it would cover WLS, but you could at least get some insurance. I'll try to find out which state agency runs this program and post back to this question.
