Question:
Fainting while walking after surgery has me concerned.

I had an exploratory lap about 7 years ago. They had me walk shortly after I woke up from the anaesthesia, and I fainted. They dropped me AND I HIT THE FLOOR! It hurt a lot. I'm scared it will happen again. Did the nurses hold you up? What kept you from falling?    — Kathy J. (posted on December 19, 2001)

I am 3 weeks post and went to a facility that specializes in WLS so everyone in my hospital was in the same boat. We all walked within 4 hours of the slice and dice and I didnt see anyone having any trouble with locomotor ataxia ( a stumbling walk). Maybe you have low blood pressure or something. Just commuicate upfront your concerns with the staff and remind those new people at shift changes. In this litigious society its unlikely a medical staff would ignore their fiduciary responsibility to there company and allow you to fall.Greg
