Question:
What if an MRI should be needed in the future?
I've asked before about whether or not titanium staples affect metal detectors. Now I want to know if they affect -or more to the point, if WE can be adversely affected by an MRI with these staples. As an MRI is a huge magnet, and I've heard horror stories about what undeclared metal can do to a person getting an MRI, should this be an area of concern? I'm thinking maybe an addition to a medic i.d. might be necessary if it does. Any MRI techs out there? — scottiemaam O. (posted on December 10, 2001)

I've had two MRIs since my surgery. One on my head, one on my knee. No
problem with either one. From what I understand, the titanium staples do
not react at all to the magnetic in the machine like regular metals would,
so don't worry about it one bit.

NO problem, titanium is not magnetic.

I had an MRI last week, and it was fine. The Technician did say they will
NOT do an MRI on someone with titanium staples until 6 weeks after surgery.
After 6 weeks, it's fine. Best of luck to you.

I have also had an MRI and was also told the 6 week rule.
