Question:
I am almost 3 mos post-op, can I eat italian bread or semolina bread?
Can you tell me at what month can I be able to eat italian or semolina bread with my deli meats. I would like to make a sandwich but I don't like white bread, never have and never will but I do like hard italian bread. Boy do I miss those heros. — blank first name B. (posted on November 26, 2001)

I was able to eat Italian bread again about month 5 as I recall, but of
course everyone's different. Don't worry ... it won't be long!

I am now 7 months post op LAP RNY, as soon as I was released to the next
stage, meaning solids my Surgeons office said I could eat toasted italian
bread. I too love italian breads. I think you will be fine. If you are
going to eat it untoasted make sure to chew chew chew....

At 17 months post-op I still can't eat but one slice of bread. I don't see
any hero sandwiches in my future. I, too, craved bread immediately
post-op, but had such bad experiences when I tried to eat it, that the
cravings eventually went away. I think they call that "negative
conditioning", lol! It works. I really don't miss bread anymore. I
did sort of miss the stuffing at Thanksgiving. I knew if I ate more than
one bite of it, I wouldn't be able to eat any more of the meal, so I
refrained, and concentrated on the turkey and green beans instead.

Bread, well chewed or toasted no problem. Although about a slice is enough
for me.
