Question:
I need to know more about long term conditions after 5,10,20 year post op

MY PSYCHOLOGIST WAS CONCERNED THAT I DID NOT KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT THE LONG TERM PICTURE POST OP- 5,10, EVEN 20 YEARS. CAN ANYONE HELP ME GATHER INFORMATION. I AM HOPING TO HAVE LAP RNY - THIS WAS PART OF MY EVALUATIONS    — ANNA D. (posted on October 31, 2001)

Hi Anna. I just had my first eval appointment with my psychologist and he kept saying that people he has treated who had "stomach stapling" were not very successful. I gave him all my documents from my surgeon's office and printed out some stuff from this site. One poster even put an article from Medscape on here, which I printed. I then went to the Medscape site and conducted a search on weight management. They have several articles about gastric bypass and the sucess rate of long term post ops. I will be taking these to my next psychologist appointment tomorrow. As he is still not sure if this is a good idea (and he is as skinny as a rail!) I am doing my best to educate him and get him to write a favorable report. Good luck to you!
