Question:
Is there some special test we have to get for the surgeon?

I have an appt. with a psyc. for a psyc. evaluation. I don't know if he has wls experience or not. He is the only one I could get in with before my surgery date. Does anyone know exactly what the surgeon is looking for? My surgeon requires the psyc. clearance before surgery, not my ins. company. Thanks~~You ALL are the best!    — Cinna G. The doctor just want to see if u can handle the surgery and what comes with it( Vomiting, eating small meals) also if u can handle the rapid weight loss..because most women who get this surgery really does remmeber or never has been thin. When i went for my psyc my dr wanted to know my motives in geting the surgery was it cause i wanted to be healthly or pretty. and my dr only does morbid obese people waiting for surgery

Check out my profile for a copy of my psych eval. It's short, sweet and to the point. Hope it's helpful!

Other than wanting to make sure you can handle the changes that are upcoming, a history of ANY kind of depression predisposes you to a psych eval (who HASN'T been depressed at some point??) Because this surgery is so life altering, they want to make sure you can handle the changes and also know that your emotional issues will still hang around after surgery. They like to hear how you are prepared to deal with the changes.
