Question:
Does anyone have a number to Aetna HMO pre-certication office?

My surgeons office mailed by pre-certification packet in stead of faxing it because they said it was too large. It has been over 3 weeks since they mailed it and have not gotten a response back yet. Many WLS sight members have gotten approval anywhere form 1 day to 1 week. I just wanted to know how did they find out in such a short period of time did they get an answer from Aetna HMO? Go to the Aetna website...www.Aetna.com.....It has a "contact us" section. I think you can find some answers there. Good Luck. I also have Aetna, but mine is Managed Choice POS. I am waiting for my approval too. I know many people who have Aetna that have gotten their approval in less than a week. Mine was faxed to Aetna about a week ago. This waiting game is TORTURE!!!!!

FINALLY!!!! A question I can answer!!!! It's 800-245-1206. One thing for you to know is that Aetna has changed its policy on Pre-certs. They are <B>no longer</B> taking things by mail, so if your doc mailed them something, they're just going to send it right back. They are only taking phone calls. So you can call the pre-cert number and ask if I'm right (cuz I know ya will *giggle*) and then give that number to your doc and tell them what you found out.
