Question:
Any employees of Kaiser insurance get approval?

I am thinking of applying for a job in Pasadena, CA with Kaiser Insurance. I was wondering if any employees who work for them had an easy or difficult time getting approval and if I would have to wait a year to try for surgery approval? I would hope that since I would be an employee of the insurance company itself that I would not have to worry about the waiting period or any pre-existing condition clause. Any help is appreciated.    — Diana M. (posted on July 6, 2001)

Hi, as an employee you wouldn't have to worry about any "pre-existing" conditions. They would insure you no question. But I would think that they would still follow their own criteria about having to be a Kaiser member and seeing a Kaiser doc for at least a year before requesting this surgery. One good thing though, I looked at your profile and with a BMI over 50, you don't need any co-morbidities. I actually know someone who works at a Kaiser hospital and has Kaiser ins. of course, but she cannot seem to get approval for this surgery. So being an employee of Kaiser really doesn't give you any sort of a leg up. But I would call Kaiser and ask them outright what they would do in a case like this.

Hi, I work for kaiser they dont give you any speical treatment. I know for a fact, my paper work was sent in 10 weeks ago, and with luck i for a lady online that gave me a number to call and check my status, my case was deferred which means the doctors couldnt agree. so my case wont be looked at again till sept. do you think anyone bother to call me. NO!!. so the waiting call continues. Some doctors said yes and some said no.
