soooo close

Mar 28, 2008

well nearing the end of the second month, and I am 2 tenths of a pound shy of 100 pounds lost, I am both elated and wishing that other 2 tenths of a pound would have had the decency to go away dammit lol.  I took this pic i have on my profile myself, I guess my skills as a photographer arent to hot but hey you gotta do what you gotta do.

Been doing great, going places, meeting new friends, feeling better in many ways but my back is still the same, I hope to get released on the first to return to physical therapy, and that it will actually start doing me some good.  My bmi is down like 11 points... im so happy...

One month update

Mar 03, 2008

Well I officially lost 26 pounds the first month, a little short of my 30 pound goal but all in all very good, and today I got under my first goal of 350!!! that has been one of my plateau weights forever (the next ones 320 which I havent been under since I got married in 1989.

Some days I am having severe depression but others I am finally starting to really believe in my hope for a better future.  I know for us females alot of hormones are running amok during this fast weight loss period, and since I have a hormone disorder anyway (PCOS) Im sure mine is doubly so.  I just try to stay focused on my path, not to let things spiral out of control, and my mantra is "i think i can, i think i can" LOL

Tanya did a particularly poignant post today so Im going to add my response here so I can review it later and see what changes are being wrought.

-----Your life 6 months back, 1 year, 2 years, 5, and 10 years back, what was it like----

6 months ago I had just gone off work for disability for my back pain which seems to slowly be getting a little better now, I had lost about 20 pounds from my highest weight on my own but it was fluxuating and with my sudden lack of activity I wasnt maintaining the loss.  the back injury had happened in may but was getting progressivly worse and i was at a new low in my life, and decided at 40 that Wls was the only option i hadnt tried, and now 66 pounds later I know it is definately working.

1 year ago I was at the highest weight of my life, starting a new job after months of unemployment, barely able to get into my building cause i was panting and limping, and probably needed to be declared handicapped. I had just been diagnosed with sleep apnea and was due to get my cpap (which im not cleared to use again yet but I feel like im sleeping better than I did pre-machine now, I wonder if I should have a sleep study say 6 months from now or so to see If I still need it)

2 years ago I was in a serious depression, I had lost one of the 2 part time jobs I had been working for 2 years to make ends meet, and the other one had bypassed me for promotion to a semi-managerial position because I missed 1 day of work when the transmission fell out of my car.  Not a happy moment for me. I had lost about 80 pounds at the other job and having lost it I was gaining it back overnight Plus some,  I was 4 years post divorce now and still bemoaning my lack of male companionship (unlike now where ive essentially given up)

5 years ago, working at the college as a computer tech, I was basically in that post divorce phase wher you go insane and desperately try to gain male attention in any way possible, did some really dumb things around this time, and got heartbroken 2 times, and financially hosed by one guy over a cell phone (which they still send me bills for, $950 bucks, hey ive seen stories coulda been alot worse). My weight was of course like a yo-yo id lost 90 pounds during the divorce and by this time had gained it back and more.  I had been diagnosed with PCOS a few years earlier at least that was a relief in some ways to find out it wasnt just me I had a condition that contributed heavily to my obesity.

10 years ago, I was still married, my weight fluctuated, I felt guilt all the time about it, tried dieting but my husband had married me fat, I was like 295 on my wedding day, and no dieting has ever gotten me below 320 pounds since then.  I got married at 21, things were great for the first 6 years but some personal crises for my husband (sexuality, financial etc) started causing us alot of trouble, I tried to work it out for 7 more years but finally we parted ways, Much of this time I was miserable, now we are still friends, and he supports me fully in my WLS journey calls me every week or so etc.  He is currently undergoing pre-op processes for a sex change which I am trying to support outwardly even if inside I feel its a big mistake for him.  I hope if he goes through it that I am wrong.

I am seeing a serious trend here and I am praying that with this lifestyle change I can be done with the "bad" half of my life, use my lessons and embark on a new happier, healthier life, wether it be alone, with the man of my dreams, or as americas next top model

Man of the year?

“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.”
--Randy Pausch

A lot of professors give talks titled “The Last Lecture.” Professors are asked to consider
their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. And while they speak,
audiences can’t help but mull the same question: What wisdom would we impart to the
world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we
want as our legacy?

When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn’t have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave—“Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”—wasn’t about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because “time is all you have…and you may find one day that you have less than you think”). It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living.

He has spoken in many places and even on Oprah, and in April is due to release his book, hes already lived 3 months longer than they gave him, check him out on You Tube and heres a link to the book, I'm thinking of buying it soon as its out myself.

10 (a) 4    (b) 2    (c) 3    (d) 5    (e) 6    (f) 1
Now add up the total number of points.
OVER 60 POINTS :  Others see you as someone they should 'handle with
care.'  You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely
dominant.  Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you,
but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved
with you.
51 TO 60 POINTS :  Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile,
rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make
decisions, though not always the right ones.  They see you as bold and
adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes
chances and enjoys an adventure.  They enjoy being in your company
because of the excitement you radiate.
41 TO 50 POINTS:  Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing,
practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the
center of attention, but sufficiently well balanced not to let it go to
their head.  They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding;
someone who'll always cheer them u p and help them out.
31 TO 40 POINTS :  Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful &
practical.  They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest.
Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's
extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty
in return.  Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to
shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long
time to get over if that trust is ever broken.
21 TO 30 POINTS:  Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.  They
see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.
It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or
on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully
from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this
reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.
UNDER 21 POINTS:  People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive,
someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make he decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or
anything!  They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't
exist.  Some people think you' re boring.  Only those who know you well
know that you aren't.

slow week

Feb 18, 2008

well its been a slow week, Ive only lost 2 pounds so far in 6 days bringing my total to 19, havent been able to exercise as much either but getting lots of water.  hoping to make 30 pounds for the month goal...

Well

Feb 08, 2008

My doctor wants me to weigh 224, thats his goal weight, he grinned when i told him I wanted to weigh more like 180 but he said 224 or below is good enough.  We will see... He said everythings going great, a load off my mind, that little voice is just a chatterbox lately.
Lost another pound 12 so far (71 total)

1 week out

Feb 07, 2008

Well as the title suggests this is my first week update, things are going well  for the most part, the pain has pretty much dissapeared unless i overdo it, im up from drininking 1 bottle of water a day to 4 and the last 2 days ive walked 3 hours a day.

I have lost 11 pounds this week most of it in the last 2 days lol.  My inscisions look practically healed, I have been doing Reiki on them pretty much daily.  My spirits are greatly improved and my mother is being very cooperative right now for a change.  I go for my checkup today, I feel i can drive myself, but I have arranged help if I need it since the office is across houston from here.

I still am not sure about "full feelings" in my pouch, or exactly how much I am supposed to be intaking right now, But I am sure the doctor will have some information for me when I go today.
