I began this journey about 7 months ago. Like almost everyone here, I have struggled with my weight for my entire life. Luckily in my earlier years, I was too busy being involved in things to notice that I was truly overweight. I played basketball, was a cheerleader and I stepped in college and coach step teams now. I am actually very active. However, I have never been able to get the weight off and keep it off. I always managed to gain it back after losing. Now that I am 34 and ready to start my family, I am faced with type II diabetes and it is time for a drastic change. And for me this is drastic. It took some convincing to get my family to support me. Once I made my decision and they saw that I was definitely ready to have surgery, I got their attention and along came their prayers and support. So here I am...my packet was sent off to the insurance company today and now I am just patiently waiting and praying 
for an approval. I'll keep you posted.
