I posted earlier this year that my sister, Julie, passed away on Sunday, April 14th at 4:30am. She had an Open R-N-Y 11/99 and after about a year developed an ulcer leading to other ulcers. She was sick on and off for a year not being able to keep food down and was in and out of the hospital w/out anyone being able to do anything. Finally, she found a surgeon that was going to go in and remove the ulcers and admitted her to the Hospital on Friday, April 12th so she can get IV's in her to hydrate her and to give her liquid nourishments. On Sunday, the nurse went in to check on her and she had already passed away. The doctor is completely baffled by this. She was so malourished she was only weighing about 110 pounds (5'5")...The autopsy results was finally given to us last week. They ruled it an Accidental Death due to the toxic effects of the drug demerol. The hospital was giving her Demerol for the pain through her IV. The medical examiner said that for whatever reason the demerol was just storing in her system and not being broken down...he didn't know why. Has anyone heard of anything like this? If so e-mail me at
