Wow I haven't updated in a while

May 23, 2007

Well hello OH and everyone reading my story.  I am now 4 months out and have lost 83 pounds since may first surgeon appointment and 70 pounds since surgery (01/18/07) I am feeling soo much better these days!!!!  Honestly though I feel like I'm not losing as rapidly as many who have had RNY so that's somewhat disappointing, but I am losing so that's awesome!!!  I have aproximately 38 more pounds until I meet my surgeons goal but 58 for my own personal goal.

There is not a moment that I regret having this surgery, it has definately helped me find my inner me again and also helped my relationship with my children and hubby.  I have to admit I'd told myself I would not become a scale junkie......but...... oh well I have become one and it's been absolutely driving me nuts watching my weight wishin for a pound lost and maintaining or losing a pound to gain it back later in the day or the next day...LOL  Well I'm gonna close for now but will try to update a lot more often!!!!

surgery date postponed

Jan 15, 2007

What a day it's been, I'm not here saying I've joined the Loser bench but it has been an interesting day.  I get to the OR this morning get undressed, the nurse takes my vitals inquires if i'm having any pain, I told her no but I have an absess under my arm and showed it to her.  I have a skin disease (hidradenits supportiva) and explained to her that this was a small one that would go away.  Well the nurse felt the need to call my Surgeon so she then leaves to come back in shortly with a phone informing me that my surgeon wants to speak with me, well guess what ...he threw his back out  and was going to call the OR anyways, so long story short my surgery has been rescheduled for hopefully "Thursday" if his back gets better of course and he put my on antibiotics until then.  So I get up and get dressed and home I came HUNGRY.  LOL ... Wednesday night I get to drink the prep again and .  Thursday will hopefully be my day.  For you guys that said a pray for me thank you, cause God works in mysterioius ways and something was not meant for me to have surgery today!!!!  Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers that this will happen for me soon ...

Well it's finaly here

Jan 14, 2007

Tomorrow morning at 5:30am I'm to report to Moore Regional Hospital for my RNY Surgery performed by Dr Mitchell.....Wooo Hooooo I can't believe I've finally been able to type that sentence!!! I'm sooo psyched... I tell ya what, this has been a long journey but I'm here at the midway point of this Journey and it feels soooo good.  I'm all packed up, children ready to go to G-Ma's house in the am...hubby took the day off from work...seems everything is ready to go...just waiting for 5:30am.  I'll be back in a week or so to say "I'm a Loser"

visit with surgeon

Dec 27, 2006

Today I had my first office viist with my surgeon, everything went well except I have to lose at least 15 pounds in 3 weeks, so needless to say I've began a preoperative diet and I'm already having a hard time, but I can do this I know I can. I've have fought to hard to be at this stage of the journey to let this defeat me!!!!  I had an EKG and a chest exray today and I guess everything looked good, I have a EGD Friday and that will be towards the end of my preoperative test.... I honestly can't believe I've gotten soooo close to having surgery...I'm kinda in disbelief that this is happening!!!!  I kinda sat there in the Dr's office dazed like I had no clue of my surrondings.... LOL  then when I snaped back and realized that I what was going on it was a great feeling that overcame me....but honestly 15 pounds in 3 weeks...rrrrrr I've got to go back on the 9th of January so they can see how i've done...  Pray for me you guys... I was told if I don't lose the  weight they will NOT operate on me...so I have to do this!!!

Got an Insurance Approval Letter

Dec 14, 2006

Today I checked my PO Box, which I don't do but once or twice a week and I had a letter (amongst other letters) from BCBS well I threw it in a stack to the side and an hour or so later I said to myself let me see what BCBS is needing now from my primary insurance company... I open it and it says "you've been approved for gastri bypass surger" I'm like OMG... I jump up from my desk and run around my office in a circle...then call my surgeons office and tell them I just recived an approval letter and I didn't even know that they'd already submitted to my insurance for approval... well she just laughed with me and congradulated me excitedly and requested I fax her a copy of the letter... OMG  I'm like without words now... I don't have my consult with DR M until the 27 and my EGD until the 29 of December, but it seems things are moving in the right direction... I'm sooo scared to breathe for fear of my luck changing...

Gotta date

Dec 04, 2006

12/04/06 Well today is a good day, just when I was beginning to get insurance frustrations all of a sudden I got news that my tentative surgery date is January 16, 2007 OMG, wasn't expecting that today as I've been fighting insurance for the last two weeks to get their system updated that me nor my family have had a lapse in coverage prior to becoming a new policy holder with them. OMG..I'm sooo excited 6 weeks and I may join the losers!!! I'm scared I'm going to jenks it so I've chosen to keep it confidential...(of course other than here!!) I informed my director that I would possibly be out again she seemed ok with it....which she would have to be, as I love my job but I wouldn't decline the surgery date for anything!!! Now on the other foot lately I've been reading up on the not so good side of having gastric bypass and I must admit I kinda started having cold feet...and believing that this surgery may not be for me.....but then I received the call today with my surgery date, so I believe that is my sign...that this is for me!!! I have pre registration on the 27th of December, and when that day gets here I'm sure it will begin to sink in that this may happen for me.... right now I must admit I'm still kinda nervous that something may happen to prevent this for me....don't wanna get too excited as the disappointment would not be good at all (again).... Well I'll be updating more than once a month from this point on...will be back on112/27/06 with an update unless something comes up that I feel must be shared!!!

11/17/06........lets see what all has happened since I've last posted, I have completed all my preop test for WLS and now I'm waiting for an appointment with the surgeon and an EGD. On the edge of my chair waiting for the date, I've called the surgeon's office and was told that they have to get the go ahead from my insurance and that definately tensed me up...I'm soooo nervous of any insurance problems or should I say denials.

10/02/06..Well it's been a little over a month since I've last posted not much has happened, other than had a hysterectomy and have turned in my information packet for WLS, which is awesome!!!! turning in my packet for surgery that is. Now I wait until I hear back from Dr. M's office, I'm soooooo excited to learn how long this process will be for me....3, 4, 5, 6 months..well time will tell.

August 2006

Aug 12, 2006

08/13/06 well a lot has happened since I last posted here, decided to update my profile monthly as it appears this is going to be a very lengthy process for me. Well to begin with after having the colonoscopy I spoke with the Bariactric Surgeon I'm hoping will perform my WLS, informed him that I had been tested and possibly have Colitis or Crohns Disease and inquired if that would rule me out of having WLS, shockingly his answer was NO...yippee I was sooo excited as I didn't want to accept that I had either IBD but if I did get diagnosed with either I still had a chance to have WLS in the future. Well I went 5 weeks never heard anything from my Gastroenterologist office, so I began to get excited that I didn't have Crohns or colitis, as they stated the results of the biopsy would be returned within 10 days and if it showed IBD someone would contact me. This week the 5th week, my ears and throat were itching me some kinda bad, so I went to my employers wellness clinic and inquired if I was having an allergic reaction to something, I was told that I possibly have exima in my ear canal which could be associated with Colitis or Crohns, my response to him was that I haven't been diagnosed with either..but he was curious to know why I was taking the medications for it if I hadn't been diagnosed...well to make a long story short, my surgeons office was contacted and I do have Crohns. I'm not giving up on having WLS though. I go for my follow up visit with my Gastroenterologist Dr on the 23rd of this month and I will at that time inquire if he is going to support me or object to me having WLS. Well dh's insurance is now available and I have signed up for it...(wow it's expensive too I tell ya), but it covers WLS and Plastics if medically nec. and our current insurance doesn't cover anything! I'm having a hysterectomy on the 5th of September after which I hope to get the ball rolling with WLS. As you can see a lot has been happening in my life these days, but I will post again updates in mid September, after my visit with my Gastrenterologist, after my Hysterectomy and hopefully have turned in my packet to the Bariactric Center. Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I continue to fight this journey and all the obstacles that are being thrown at me in the path....

July 2006

Jul 03, 2006

07/4/06 well it's the 4th of July and I don't have much to celebrate :*( I had a colonoscopy and an upper GI done and there was signs of Crohn's Disease and or Colitis which are both concidered IBD's & contraindications to the RNY surgery *per my online research of the diseases. I have not officially been diagnoised with either disease so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have either and maybe it's a build up of something else or even IBS, really not wanting to be diagnoised IBD. According to the Dr.'s office it will take approximately 2 weeks the get the biopsy results from the colonoscopy... I really have my hopes up for the RNY in two weeks hubby's insurance will be available and I will officially be covered by an insurance that cover WLS, and still may not be able to have the surgery this all really scares me!! All I can do is hope and pray that I don' t have an IBD and those that read this pray with me.....
